Pattern of cardiac enhancement
1-Sub endocardial enhancement:
-Which could be focal or diffuse.
-Focal enhancement include part of the subendocardium while the diffuse include the whole endocardium.
-Causes of focal enhancement are either subendocardial infarction is including only subendocardial layer or trans mural if including with it the mural layer.
-Causes of diffuse enhancement are either amyloidosis or systemic sclerosis.
2-Mid wall enhancement:
-Which could be patchy or linear.
-Linear could be thin or thick.
-Causes of patchy mid wall enhancement are HOCM and right ventricular overflow.
-Causes of linear thin enhancement are idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and myocarditis.
-Causes of thick linear enhancement are myocarditis in addition to the following mnemonic
S A C
Where S---Sarcoidosis.
A---Anderson-Fabry.
C---Chagas.
3-Epicardial enhancement:
Are myocarditis in addition to the following mnemonic
S A C
Where S---Sarcoidosis.
A---Anderson-Fabry.
C---Chagas.
