6-1-3-Role of CT in diagnosing mediastinal mass

1-Detects masses not seen in X-ray.
2-Differentiate cystic from solid masses.
3-Detects calcium within the lesion(very important for diagnosis).
4-Differentiate vascular from non vascular pathology.
5-Assess invasion of the adjacent organs.
Finally you can conclude that CT can detects presence of mediastinal mass, and say if this mass is cystic or solid, arising from vascular or non vascular mediastinal structure, containing calcium or not, and invading near by structures or not.
