2-11-Pulmonary hydatid cyst

-Study characterization: Chest P.A.
-Lesion localization: A cavity is noted in the lower zone of  the right lung.
-Lesion characterization: This cavity measures --x-- cm with evidence of  wavy fluid level inside it.
-Differential diagnosis: Here, we are facing with a pulmonary cavity containing wavy fluid level which is known as water lelly sign, characteristic of rupture hydatid cyst(no differential diagnosis).
-Diagnosis: Ruptured hydatid cyst.





-Study characterization: CT chest, lung window, with contrast at the level of the heart.
-Lesion localization: A cavity is noted in the middle lobe of the right lung.
-Lesion characterization: This cavity measures --x-- cm with evidence of intra cavitary mass noted inside it.
-Differential diagnosis: Include fungal ball which is the most common one, then ruptured hydatid cyst and necrotizing tumor, then lastly blood hematoma.
-Diagnosis: Is ruptured hydatid cyst.





Hydatid cyst can be seen in three forms any where in the body, these forms are as follow:
1-As a calcified wall cyst.
2- Or a big cyst with multiple small cysts present inside it and adherent to the wall.
3-Or a cyst containing floating linear structures along the surface of fluid.
